NZC has joined forces with Heart Kids New Zealand as its official charity.
Heart Kids has provided lifelong care to those affected by childhood heart defects since 1984.
NZC Chief Executive David White says that while our flagship teams the BLACKCAPS and WHITE FERNS have regularly undertaken community work, that it’s a step forward to formalise a relationship with one charity.
"As we head into an exciting summer for our sport, with more cricket than ever before, we are keen to see our teams engage more with the community and reach out to a wider group of fans."
“It’ll be great to play our part in helping such a worthwhile cause - one that affects 12 Kiwi families every week.”
Heart Kids Chief Executive Officer Rob Lutter says that New Zealand Cricket's support is a real boost for the charity’s awareness month in August.
“We’re honoured to be working with the NZC team. This relationship will assist us in raising awareness of congenital and childhood heart disease, which affects so many in our community."
“Heart Kids is the only charity in New Zealand supporting kids and families affected by childhood heart defects, and we work with over 2500 families every year. We’re looking forward to continuing with a great partnership.”
Every year 600 New Zealand families have a new born with heart defects – making it our most common serious birth abnormality. To show your support for Heart Kids, you can make a donation online.
