Tom Latham has been ruled out of the fourth KFC T20I against South Africa starting this Sunday 22 March in Wellington.
Latham was struck on the thumb by South African fast-bowler Nqobani Mokoena during the third KFC T20I, at Eden Park on Friday night.
Wellington Firebirds wicketkeeper Tom Blundell comes into the squad as top order batting/wicketkeeper cover.
Latham, struck in the fourth over of the BLACKCAPS' chase, continued batting, finishing with 63 not out as the BLACKCAPS won by 8 wickets.
Medical staff at the ground assessed Latham’s thumb post-match, and he was subsequently flown to Christchurch the morning after the match for scans.
Latham’s involvement in fifth and final KFC T20I v South Africa will be determined after the results of his scans are revealed.
