WHITE FERN Jess Kerr's outstanding touch continued in the sixth round of the national Hallyburton Johnstone Shield with a brilliant seven-for in Rangiora.

Since December 2008, Wellington Blaze's record for best bowling in a List A one-dayer had been fellow pace bowler Amanda Cooper's amazing 6/9, aganst the Otago Sparks at Karori Park.

Now Kerr has finally beaten it, taking 7/18 off just 8.3 brutal overs against the beleagured Canterbury Magicians in Rangiora.

That also equals the overall best figures in the history of the competition, with Bella Armstrong having set the record of 7/18 for the Auckland Hearts at Melville Park in December 2019, against the Otago Sparks.

Kerr put herself on a hat-trick in just the second over, and struck twice again in her second-to-last over of the innings to contain the Mags to just 151 in 32.3 overs.

It was the second time in a fortnight that Blaze bowlers had got themselves into the top two bowling efforts of all time for the team - spinner Xara Jetly having taken 6/39 against the Central Hinds in Palmerston North in round three.

Those figures now move down to the third best ever for the team in one-day cricket as they continue their good run.
