Saturday’s opening game of the KFC T20I series between the BLACKCAPS and England in Christchurch has officially sold out.
Approximately 9,000 fans are expected to descend on Hagley Oval on Saturday night, while Monday’s second match at the same venue is also selling well, with less than one-third of tickets remaining.
With a strong crowd also in store for the third and final T20I at Eden Park in Auckland on Thursday night, NZC Head of Marketing Tim Ellis said the sales reflected the strong interest in the two teams.
“It’s always a big deal when England come to town, but this tour seems to have piqued the New Zealand public’s interest.
“Harry Brook’s English are packed with power and excitement, while Mitch Santner and the BLACKCAPS have a terrific record at home.
“Throw in Brendon McCullum, Jeetan Patel and Tim Southee working with the opposition, a T20 World Cup just around the corner, and it’s no surprise Kiwis are keen to see these two teams battle it out.
“We know England receive great support from their fans home and away which always makes for a terrific atmosphere and experience for all of those lucky enough to attend.
“England hasn’t played at Eden Park since 2019 and so it’s a great chance for Aucklanders to get out and watch one of the very best teams in the world who also happen to be coached by a Kiwi."
Following the third and final T20I at Eden Park on Thursday, the tour moves to Bay Oval in Tauranga for the first match of the Chemist Warehouse ODI series which starts on Sunday, October 26.
Game two of the ODI series is at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Wednesday October 29 with the final match of the tour at Sky Stadium in Wellington on Saturday November 1.
The series will be broadcast live in New Zealand on TVNZ+ and TVNZ 1, with Sport Nation and the Alternative Commentary Collective providing audio commentary.
