Injuries have ruled out WHITE FERNS Lauren Down (back), Rosemary Mair (side) and Hannah Rowe (side) from the North v South T20 tournament starting tomorrow in Nelson.
All three players picked up their injuries whilst representing their respective Major Associations during the Hallyburton Johnstone (HBJ) Shield but are expected to be fit for the start of Super Smash.
Fran Jonas has withdrawn herself from the series, with full support of NZC and Auckland Cricket, to prioritise time on making technical changes to her bowling. Her participation in Super Smash is to be determined.
Northern Brave off spinning-allrounder Nensi Patel and pace bowler Kayley Knight have been called in to replace Jonas and Mair, whilst Auckland Hearts batters Bella Armstrong and Prue Catton come in for Down and Rowe.
NZC Head of Women’s High Performance Liz Green said she was pleased with the calibre of players selected for the series.
“Whilst it's disappointing to have some players now unavailable for this series it does give opportunities to others.
“Around a dozen players have international experience and the remainder have been working hard at domestic level and pushing their case for higher honours.
“I’m expecting some really competitive cricket and I’m excited to see which team comes out on top.”
