Christchurch closing in on sell-out for first England T20I

Fewer than 500 tickets remain for the BLACKCAPS opening KFC T20I against England at Hagley Oval on Saturday October 18, with the second match at the same venue two days later also selling strongly.

With the sold-out sign imminent for game one at the central city venue, NZC is encouraging fans to get in quick to ensure they don’t miss the BLACKCAPS taking on the Brendon McCullum and Harry Brook led English.

BLACKCAPS fast bowler and Christchurch local Matt Henry said playing England was always special and especially so in front of strong support at home.

“They’re a great side with a lot of talent and as a player you want to be testing yourselves again the best players in the world,” he said.

“You only have to look at some of their recent performances to know it’ll be a fantastic contest.

“It’s great to hear people are getting behind the series and we know a full house at Hagley Oval makes for an incredible atmosphere so we can’t wait.

“It’s always an awesome occasion playing England, previous series have always been entertaining and tight. The energy the English crowd bring also makes it a special tour to be a part of.”

The opening clash on Saturday October 18 marks the beginning of an action-packed fortnight, that sees the sides play across five cities.

Following two T20Is in three nights at Hagley Oval, the series heads north for game three at Auckland’s Eden Park, before switching into ODI mode for three matches across Tauranga’s Bay Oval, Hamilton’s Seddon Park, and Wellington’s Sky Stadium.

The T20I series will be broadcast live in New Zealand on TVNZ+ and TVNZ 1, with Sport Nation and the Alternative Commentary Collective providing audio commentary.
