New Zealand Cricket today announced the schedule for the women’s 2014-15 domestic season, which will kick off on 28 November.
The One Day and Twenty20 competitions will be played across six weekends, with three matches played each weekend. The teams will play a Twenty20 on the Friday, before consecutive One Day matches on the Saturday and Sunday.
There will be a two week break between rounds two and three to accommodate the Women’s Under-21 tournament, in which a number of domestic players will feature. This tournament will be played at Lincoln, which will also host all teams in the third round of the domestic competitions.
Two outright finals will be played following the regular season, with the two top-placed teams from each format meeting in the deciders.
White Ferns Coach Hamish Barton says the season will provide an opportunity for players to put their hand up for the home series against England in February.
“Strong performances in the domestic competition give players every opportunity to make that step up to the White Ferns level. With England coming here this summer, there is a great incentive for players to stake their claim to be a part of what will be a huge series for us,” said Barton.
The White Ferns international schedule will be released soon.
