State Canterbury Wizards sustained the pressure at the top of the State Championship title with a 119-run victory over State Otago Volts in Christchurch.
Craig Cumming claimed a century in Otago’s chase for a 400-plus target , but Andrew Ellis backed up his half-century with three wickets as the Volts were removed for 319.
Two declarations on day three set up the match for a result, with a captain’s knock by Cumming giving Otago a fighting chance of an unlikely victory.
From a position of strength at 214 for one in the 72nd over, the final nine wickets fell for 104 runs to give the Wizards a bonus point win.
