Wilson knock earns points

A maiden first-class century by Brad Wilson gave State Championship holders Northern Knights first-innings points at Invercargill’s Queens Park against Otago Volts.

Wilson’s knock of 100, which came in more than six hours at the crease, put his team within striking distance of Otago’s 305.

Knights captain James Marshall made 67 in a century stand with the young right-hander.

Marshall declared at 410 for nine, after Peter McGlashan’s innings ended on 69.

With skipper Craig Cumming injured, Greg Todd moved up the Volts order and hit six of their seven second innings runs at stumps.

With one day to play, Otago trail by 98 runs.
