Williamson racks up second fastest century

STATISTICS: A summary of ODI statistics and milestones following the third match of the series against Zimbabwe.

Ross Taylor hitting 119 and Kane Williamson reaching 100* is only the second occasion that two BLACKCAP batsmen have scored centuries in the same innings. Previously, Brendon McCullum (166) and James Marshall (161) both passed 150 against Ireland in 2008 when the BLACKCAPS achieved their highest ever ODI total.

Kane Williamson scored the second fastest century for New Zealand in ODIs.   His 69 ball effort has only been surpassed by Craig McMillan when he scored a 67 ball ton against Australia at Hamilton in 2006-07.

The match aggregate was a record in New Zealand v Zimbabwe ODIs surpassing the 602 runs scored at Bulawayo in 2005.   There have been only six New Zealand ODIs which have produced a greater run aggregate with the most being the 726 runs against India at Christchurch in 2008-09.

Zimbabwe's total of 329 was their highest against New Zealand beating the 300 they scored at Taupo in 2000-01.   New Zealand have scored only one total higher when they scored 397 at Bulawayo in 2005.

This is the second occasion that Zimbabwe have reached 300 against New Zealand without any of their batsmen recording a century.   Only two teams, England with 340 in the tied match at Napier in 2007-08 and Australia with 331 at Christchurch in 2005-06, have scored more without an individual century.

Malcolm Waller is the third Zimbabwean and the 12th player all told to be stranded on 99 not out in ODIs.   Incidentally Bruce Edgar was the first player to suffer this fate back in 1980-81.

Waller didn't enjoy the luck of Kane Williamson who looked as though he would miss out on his century until Njalubo Ncube bowled a head high no ball off what should have been the last ball of the innings allowing Williamson one extra ball to achieve his ton.

The fifth wicket partnership of 195 is a New Zealand record against all countries beating the 148 added by Roger Twose and Chris Cairns against Australia at Cardiff back in 1999 and is exactly 100 more than the previous fifth wicket record against Zimbabwe.

The 100 added by Hamilton Masakadza and Brendan Taylor for Zimbabwe's second wicket and the 112 added by Malcolm Waller and Elton Chigumbura for the sixth wicket are both records for Zimbabwe against New Zealand.

The 85 runs conceded by Keegan Meth is second only to the 96 conceded by Andy Blignaut for Zimbabwe against New Zealand and is the fifth most expensive analysis against New Zealand in all ODIs.

Andy McKay's analysis was the most expensive for the BLACKCAPS against Zimbabwe with the 77 runs.  He exceeded the 74 conceded by Chris Cairns at Bulawayo back in 2005.

This is the sixth occasion that New Zealand has lost an ODI by one wicket and the second time it has happened against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe's total of 329 for 9 is the largest winning total by a team batting second against New Zealand surpassing the 321 for 5 recorded by India at Bangalore in 2010-11.

The BLACKCAPS record against Zimbabwe in ODIs in Zimbabwe is almost identical to the record for matches played in New Zealand.   The BLACKCAPS have won eight and Zimbabwe have won 4 matches in both countries however there has also been a tie in Zimbabwe.  In neutral venues New Zealand have had six wins with one no result.
