Williamson and Guptill honoured in India

The home summer may be quickly fading, but the BLACKCAPS continue to be recognised across the world for their stellar season.

The CEAT awards were handed out in Mumbai overnight, with the Captain Kane Williamson picking up the Test player of the year award while Martin Guptill was named ODI player of the year from April 2015 to March 2016.

The CEAT Cricket Rating System was founded by Clive Lloyd, Ian Chappell and Sunil Gavaskar 21 years ago and was the original international cricket rating system, before the ICC rankings were brought in.

Young Canterbury quick Matt Henry’s strong summer with the white ball was recognised with his nomination for bowler of the year.

Joe Root won the overall batsman of the year title and was also awarded the supreme gong.
