Martin Guptill took his season aggregate to 348 runs, well ahead of Brendon McCullum on 234. James Franklin (215) and Ross Taylor (206) are the only other batsmen to have broached the 200 run mark for the season.
Rather surprisingly the most economical bowler has been Kane Williamson who is conceding just 5.45 runs per over. Daniel Vettori (5.87), Roneel Hira (5.88) and Muttiah Muralitharan (6.11) are the next best. The spin bowlers are dominant in the economy rates with Dimitri Mascarenhas (6.26) the tidiest of the seamers.
Andy McKay and Rob Nicol, each with two wickets during the round are now joint leading wicket-takers with eleven each. Michael Bates, Roneel Hira and Tim Southee are one wicket behind on ten.
Martin Guptill, Anaru Kitchen, Brendon Diamanti, Rob Nicol and Grant Elliott lead the number of catches in the field with five each.
During the Northern Knights clash with the Wellington Firebirds Kane Williamson recorded his first half-century (53) for the Knights then went on to record his best bowling, finishing with three for 33. He is just the fourth player to have scored a half-century and taken three or more wickets in a match. Aaron Redmond (59 and four for 24), Chris Harris (65* and three for 14) and Scott Styris (59 and three for15) are those who have previously performed this match double.
Mark Gillespie had the unenviable record of conceding the most runs in a match for the Firebirds when he went for 49 off his four overs during the match. Of the bowlers who have bowled at least ten overs this season he is the most expensive, going at 11.58 runs an over, ahead of Neil Wagner 10.06 and James Franklin 10.00.
Dean Brownlie heads the strike rates for those batsmen who have scored a minimum of a hundred runs. He has been scoring at 164 runs per 100 balls, ahead of Scott Styris (159), Doug Bracewell (155) and Ross Taylor (150).
