Who leads the WHITE FERNS ODI way?

As we build up to the ICC Women’s World Cup we are taking a look at a series of WHITE FERNS records. To start with we are shining a light on Debbie Hockley, the team’s leading One Day International run scorer.

The current New Zealand Cricket President and ICC Hall of Famer has a career total 4,064 ODI runs.

Hockley was the first woman to reach the 4,000 ODI run mark and no WHITE FERN has so far been able to join her in the special club. The total has her sixth on the career ODI run scoring list for women. Current WHITE FERNS captain Suzie Bates is the next Kiwi on the list with 3,492 runs after cresting the 3,000 mark last year in South Africa.

Only ten women have reached the 3,000 run barrier. Leading current WHITE FERN and Hockley’s fellow Cantabrian, Amy Satterthwaite is on the cusp of the group with 2,970 runs to date.

Hockley made her record setting haul of runs at a top ODI average of 41.89 across a total of 115 innings. The average also has her second on the career list (min 10 innings) just in front of Suzie Bates who is currently scoring at 41.08.  Karen le Comber heads the all time list with 44.20 from 14 innings.

The former team captain’s 118 ODIs are the third most by a New Zealander behind only Sara McGlashan (134) and Nicola Browne (125).

The four hundreds Hockley scored during her career are the third most by a WHITE FERN and she is one of only six women to score consecutive hundreds in ODIs.
