Four of the White Ferns visited the Southern Institute of Technology on the eve of their fourth Twenty20 match against England in Invercargill.
Sara McGlashan, Frances Mackay, Katey Martin and Anna Peterson all took time to teach a group from the SIT English class and even managed to get an on campus game going.
The foreign students braved some harsh southern elements to learn some basic cricket skills and were soon endangering surrounding windows with some baseball like swings.
Despite any errors in their technique, SIT English tutor Phillippa Ayers said it was still a great introduction to a traditional Kiwi game.
“None of them have ever heard of it before, it’s a new experience for them,” said Ayers.
The White Ferns trip down to the Polytec coincided with Orientation week for the students. The Ferns are down in Invercargill until Monday and play a Twenty20 on both Saturday and Sunday against England at Queens Park.
