This summer the White Ferns will prove that girls really can play cricket when they face trans-Tasman rivals Australia in the Rose Bowl series.
The first Twenty20 game between the White Ferns and Australia is on December 28 at Seddon Park in Hamilton. They are the curtain raiser for the BLACKCAPS and Pakistan game. A special ticket price is being offered for the White Ferns/BLACKCAPS double header – between 2pm and 3.15 a junior get in for free when accompanied by an adult. Extra children will get in for $5.
The White Ferns then head down to the South Island to play at Saxton Oval on December 30. It will be the first international game at the ground and it is free entry.
The women then take a break during January and return to play the Australians in February in Invercargill and Lincoln.
The last time the two teams met was at the ICC World Twenty20 Competition in the Caribbean. The White Ferns lost the final on the last ball, so they’ll be looking to get one up against the Australians during the Rose Bowl Series.
White Fern Sara McGlashan said she’s looking forward to the challenge ahead. “We can’t wait to get some pay-back against the Australians and we need as much support as possible to be able to do that,” she said. “So make sure you get your friends and family together and head down to Seddon Park or Saxton Oval this December to cheer us on.”
