White Ferns lose by 27 runs to India in Final World Cup warm up match

The White Ferns were beaten by India in the final warm up for both sides prior to this weekend's opening match in the ICC WOMEN'S WORLD CUP.

India were inserted by The White Ferns and were patient in accumulating 168/6 in their fifty overs on a well used Old Kings pitch at Parramatta.

Anjum Chopra 73 not out anchored the India batting with Priyanka Roy scoring 44.

Nicola Browne 2/23 off 9 and Lucy Doolan 2/22 also off 9 overs were the stand out bowlers for New Zealand.

The White Ferns were then bowled out for 141 in 44 overs.

Aimee Mason batting at five was unbeaten on 39, opener, Suzie Bates with 34 the only other White Fern to trouble the Indian attack.

White Ferns coach Gary Stead is rueing a lack of discipline and application by the batters against the three spronged Indian spin attack.

Left arm orthodox spinner, Sultana Gouyah 2/18  and right arm leg spinner,  Priyanka Roy 2/36 made regular in roads into the White Ferns batting line up.

Stead said he was very impressed with the White Ferns pace bowling from Browne and Kate Pulford and also the spinners Doolan and Mason.

The White Ferns re group over the next three days before their World Cup opening clash with defending champions,  Australia on Sunday.
