With under 100 days left until the start of the ICC Women’s World Cup in England, here’s a few of the WHITE FERNS records at World Cups.
29- The most wickets taken by a WHITE FERN at World Cups. Catherine Campbell featured in 31 ICC Women’s World Cup matches, picking up 29 wickets at an average of 22.55. Campbell made her debut during the 1988 World Cup, and concluded her career by playing a pivotal role in the WHITE FERNS ICC Women’s World Cup triumph in 2000.
13- The most catches taken by a WHITE FERN (not including wicket-keepers) at the global tournament. Debbie Hockley holds many records for the WHITE FERNS and during her 45 World Cup appearances she snared 13 catches.
19/03/2009- This was a historic day for the WHITE FERNS, during a World Cup match against Pakistan numerous records WHITE FERNS records were broken.
262- The highest ever WHITE FERNS partnership at a World Cup. Suzie Bates joined Haidee Tiffen at the crease at 34-1, 36 overs later Haidee Tiffen and the current WHITE FERNS captain had combined for an astounding 262-run partnership. Tiffen scored 100, hitting just three boundaries as the perfect balance while Bates went ballistic at the other end.
168- The highest score ever by a WHITE FERN at a World Cup. While the now WHITE FERNS coach rotated the strike, Bates played her most destructive innings ever. The powerful right-hander hit 19 fours and six sixes during her knock of 168, using only 105 balls to get to the highest ever score by a WHITE FERN.
373- The highest ever score by the WHITE FERNS. Bates and Tiffen’s efforts led the WHITE FERNS to their incredible total of 373-7. Cameos from Nicola Browne and Kate Pulford helped the cause, but it was Tiffen and Bates centuries that made the historic total possible.
1501- The most runs scored by a WHITE FERN at World Cups. If you look through WHITE FERNS records, Debbie Hockley remains the name attached to many of them. At World Cups Hockley hit 1501 runs, at a healthy 42.88. Included were ten half centuries, and she twice reached triple figures. To show her level of excellence, Suzie Bates sits at number two on the list, scoring 682 runs at 56.83. The WHITE FERNS captain will look to gain some ground on the current New Zealand Cricket President during the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup in England.
32- The most dismissals by a WHITE FERN at World Cups. Over the course of three World Cups Rebecca Rolls took 24 catches and eight stumpings, making her the most potent wicket-keeper behind the stumps for the WHITE FERNS in history.
