White Ferns Head Coach Katrina Keenan has resigned from her role to spend more time with her family.
The former New Zealand fast bowler had headed the national women’s side for just over a year but has made the decision to resign because of the demands of the role, including international travel, which were a challenge with a young family.
New Zealand Cricket Head of Cricket Operations Lindsay Crocker says he is naturally disappointed that Keenan wasn’t able to stay on but respects her decision.
“Katrina was a top operator. She knew the demands of high level sport as a former World Cup winner and was incredibly driven in her plans to lift the White Ferns in the rankings.”
Crocker says Keenan made the decision now so that a replacement could be found in time for the upcoming tour by the West Indies in late February and March, and the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh starting in late March.
“We will now start to work through the appointment process for Katrina’s replacement.”
