White Ferns clinch series finale

White Ferns captain Haidee Tiffen struck an unbeaten half-century to secure a four-wicket victory against Australia in their fifth and final Rose Bowl ODI at Darwin’s Gardens Oval.

Tiffen’s 66 completed a successful pursuit of the Southern Stars’ 180 for nine to finish the series at 3-2 to the world champions.

Player of the Series Nicola Browne (16) and rookie-wicket keeper Rachel Priest (39) provided support.

Openers Shelley Nitschke (47) and Melissa Bulow (51) put on 84 for the first wicket, but they were restricted by the New Zealand attack.

Tiffen steered her side to victory with five overs to spare, having negotiated a tricky mid-innings period which saw the Kiwis fall to 75 for four after Sara McGlashan had retired hurt.
