Australian pace bowler Damien Wright will play for Wellington in their two opening domestic Twenty20 cricket matches this weekend.

Wellington, who host Otago on Saturday and Canterbury on Sunday, will see Victorian Wright joined by English namesake Luke Wright as the team's two international players.

Damien Wright, who is also Victoria's bowling coach, took five for 54 for his state on Saturday in a Sheffield Shield first class match against Queensland.

He has extensive experience over the last 13 seasons, playing for both Victoria and Tasmania in Australia and for English domestic sides Northamptonshire, Glamorgan, Somerset and Sussex. He has also played eight times for Australia A.
