Watling to miss remaining ODIs

New Zealand Cricket has today confirmed that BJ Watling has sustained a grade 1 quadricep injury and miss last two One Day Internationals against the West Indies.

Watling suffered the injury while running between the wickets during the third ODI against the West Indies at Warner Park, St Kitts.

BLACKCAPS Physiotherapist, Paul Close said: “A clinical assessment and ultra-sound confirmed that BJ has a grade 1 tear to his left quadricep muscle.

“His return to cricket will be guided by the improvement he makes in the next week.  He won’t be available for the remaining ODI matches and unlikely to be fit for the warm-up match starting on 20 July.

“He will remain with the team where he will be monitored and treated with a view to being fit for the upcoming Test series.”
