Watling leads Knights

A BJ Watling century contributed to a pair of sizeable top-order stands as State Championship-leading Northern Knights produced a solid start against State Otago Volts at Hamilton.

Watling made 104 – his second first-class hundred, within two matches of his maiden ton - after the hosts were inserted to the crease at Seddon Park, and moved on to 331 for four at stumps.

The youngster put on a 94-run opening stand with Brad Wilson (37) and 146 for the second wicket alongside Alun Evans (90).

James McMillan claimed two wickets for the visitors.
