If Australia is to win the World Cup next year, Shane Warne must be lured out of limited-overs retirement, at least according to Rodney Hogg.
The former fast bowler dished up his comments in Sunday's Herald Sun.
Hogg said Australia's attack and selection policies were both "all over the place at the moment."
He accused the selectors of being in 'dreamland' for their concentration on the World Cup and not the tour of the moment.
"They won't win the World Cup unless they get Shane Warne back," he said.
"The attack is not good enough."
"If I was Cricket Australia at the moment, I would be on the phone begging him to play again."
"You are not going to win a World Cup with Bracken and Symonds, relying on their bowling. We have one outstanding bowler at the moment in Brent Lee."
Hogg said that if Sanath Jayasuriya had played in Australia's last VB Series match with Sri Lanka, Australia would have lost.
Jayasuriya is expected to play on Sunday after getting over his thigh strain.
"Our attack is very, very weak at the moment," Hogg said.
"Your depth is just not there. We are all over the place," he said.
