Vettori out for final match

BLACKCAPS captain Daniel Vettori will not play in the second Twenty20 International against Pakistan in Dubai on Saturday morning (NZ time).

Vettori was withdrawn from the side for the first T20I after suffering the effects of concussion, sustained when he was hit on the head while batting in the second One-Day International.

BLACKCAPS team manager Dave Currie said a scan had cleared Vettori of any serious injury. However he had been feeling unwell and will be monitored for the remainder of the tour.

Batsman Aaron Redmond suffered a groin strain while bowling in the first T20I and will be assessed in the morning to determine whether he can play in the second match.

James Franklin, who is recovering from a back injury, came on as substitute fielder for Redmond and is expected to be available for the final contest of the UAE tour.
