Kruger Van Wyk has been reappointed as captain of the State Canterbury Wizards for the forthcoming season.
Announcing the appointment today, Canterbury Cricket CEO, Lee Germon said that Van Wyk had done an outstanding job last season in his first year of captaincy culminating in leading the Wizards to a State Championship title. “Kruger displayed the character and skills last season that showed he has enormous ability not only to lead the team but to perform as a player to a very high level. He has proven and communicated a commitment to Canterbury Cricket and we believe he is the right man to lead the State Wizards.”
Van Wyk said, “I am enormously proud to be asked to captain the Wizards again and committed to helping continue the development of the side. I enjoyed last season and look forward to the new challenges the forthcoming season brings.
Van Wyk was awarded the 2007/2008 Canterbury Cricket Player of the Year and is currently playing cricket in Scotland.
