Under 19's beat Wellington A in one-dayer

NZ Under 19’s 291/9 (L van Beek 63*, J Neesham 63, C Cachopa 56, T Latham 36; J Sewell 4-53,J Joseph 2-47,  K Forde 2-67) beat Wellington A 257 ( Allen 71,  Colson 38; J Neesham 3-62)

After rain stopped play early yesterday the scheduled three day match was abandoned and a one-day match was played today. After winning the toss and electing to bat first the New Zealand Under 19 team amassed 291 for 9.  James Neesham and Logan van Beek both scored 63 with Craig Cachopa next best with 56.  Tom Latham also contributed with 36.  Josh Joseph was the best of the Wellington attack taking two for 47.  The Wellington A team fell 35 runs short of the target.  Captain Simon Allen struck 71 and Fraser Colson made 38 but no other Wellington batsman made an impression.  The fielding was sharp and running between the wickets poor as four run-outs were complete.  Auckland bowler James Neesham was leading wicket-taker for the Under 19’s with three but leaked 62 runs.
