The New Zealand Under 19 team made it one from one in the first of their practise matches for the World Cup, beating Scotland by a convincing 116 runs.
It was a good performance to start the World Cup campaign as the team looked to quickly get back into playing mode after a three month winter lay off.
Despite an indifferent start with the bat the Kiwis still managed to claim a comfortable victory and now look forward to facing the West Indies in their second practise match on Thursday.
New Zealand ended their first 50 over effort since arriving in Australia at 245 for five. Scotland never looked confident in their chase and fell well short at 129 all out.
Young fast bowler Jacob Duffy was prolific at the start of the Scotland innings, bowling his first six over for figures of three for six.
Connor Neynans kept the momentum going, taking two wickets in the 20th over to keep Scotland on the back foot at 76 for six.
The spinners finished off the job for New Zealand as Theo van Woerkom (1-38) and Arnie Yugaraja (3-18) secured the victory.
Earlier New Zealand themselves had been looking precarious at 35 for two, but a third wicket partnership of 61 between Michael Davidson and Will Young settled things down nicely.
Young (38) and Davidson (49) though failed to push on, but the momentum stayed with New Zealand as Henry Walsh and Cameron Fletcher put on a high calibre display, posting an unbeaten 99 off the last 12 overs.
Walsh top scored with 57 not out, while Davidson was left just one short of a half century with 49 not out.
After a not so convincing start to the innings New Zealand would have been happy with their response to finish 245 for five.
