Taylor up seven places, Bond in the top 10

Central Stags batting star Ross Taylor has vaulted into the top 20 on the ICC Test batting ranking and Shane Bond had returned to the top 10 on the bowling chart.

Taylor was the biggest mover of all the international cricketers in the latest player rankings which were released on Saturday.

The 25-year-old scored 94 and 59 in the BLACKCAPS’ 32 runs victory over Pakistan in the Dunedin Test and has been rewarded with a jump of seven places and now sits in a career-best 17th position.

The BLACKCAPS currently have five players in the top 50 batting list. Ross Taylor (17th) is the highest ranked, followed by Vettori (24), Jesse Ryder (37), Brendon McCullum (42) and the recently retired Jacob Oram (47).

Bond, who returned to Test cricket, is back in seventh position after recording figures of 8-153 which earned him the player of the match award.

BLACKCAPS captain Daniel Vettori (13th) and opening bowler Chris Martin (20th) have retained their places among the top 20 Test bowlers in world cricket.

Vettori also keeps his place as one of the leading Test all-rounders, currently ranked second behind Jacques Kallis of South Africa.
