WHITE FERN Lea Tahuhu has signed to play for the Surrey Stars in the inaugural edition of the Kia Superleague which gets underway this weekend.
Right arm seamer Tahuhu steps into the Stars team to replace the injured Meg Lanning who was ruled out from taking part in the competition due to a shoulder injury.
Tahuhu is known as one of the fastest bowlers in the women's game and will join up with other international stars in the Surrey line up including South Africa's Marizanne Kapp and Australia's Rene Farrell. The Stars will be captained by England international Natalie Sciver.
Lea will arrive in the UK in time for the Surrey Stars first fixture of the tournament on Sunday 31st July against the Southern Vipers captained by former England captain Charlotte Edwards at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Surrey Stars general manager, Ebony Rainford-Breny said about Tahuhu "Signing a player of the calibre of Lea is a big boost to our squad ahead of our opening match this weekend. Alongside the likes of Nat Sciver, Laura Marsh, Alex Hartley, Rene Farrell and Marizanne Kapp, we now have a very strong bowling attack."
