Styris to join BLACKCAPS

Having overcome a series of back complaints that have affected him since before the Champions Trophy in India in October, and a recent calf injury, Styris has been back playing for his province since the start of the year, first as a batsman only and more recently as an all rounder.

BLACKCAPS general manager Lindsay Crocker said that the BLACKCAPS selectors are satisfied with his fitness and are keen to see him reintroduced into the squad.

“Scott needs to be reacquainted with the squad systems, which have moved on significantly since he was last in the team. It is also an opportunity for him to get back on to the international stage and the extra pressures that it brings,” he said.

Hamish Marshall has been released from the squad and will return home tomorrow.

The World Cup squad will be announced on February 13.
