South Africa T20 tickets on sale – limited to 2,000 only

Monday, 12 December 2011Tickets for the South Africa vs. Canterbury Wizards T20 cricket match on February 15 go on sale today with a limit of 2,000 available.

This is the only international cricket to be played in Christchurch all season. It will be played at the picturesque Hagley Oval, a ground that initially hosted first class cricket in 1867 and is steeped in history.

Coached by Gary Kirsten and Alan Donald, the South African team includes superstars like Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn, Hashim Amla and A.B. De Villiers.

Hagley Oval will be transformed for the match with 2,000 temporary seats being constructed to provide all spectators a guaranteed seat.

Canterbury Cricket CEO, Lee Germon, said ‘I urge all cricket lovers to act quickly to guarantee a ticket to the match.  With a public capacity of only 2,000 we are expecting the tickets to sell very quickly for what will be the only chance for Canterbury people to see the mighty South African side in action in our city.’

The match will also serve as an opportunity to commemorate the February earthquake one year on with both teams wearing specially designed playing shirts and a minute silence observed before the match.

Germon added, ‘I am extremely grateful to the South African side who have agreed to play this match to show support for Christchurch and our people.  Members of the South African Cricket Association visited recently to view Hagley Oval and expressed their wish to help however they can to make this a wonderful event.’

Tickets for the Canterbury Wizards vs. South Africa match are avaiable on www.dashtickets.co.nz or Action Indoor Sports Stadiums.
