Shoaib could miss next Test

An ankle injury has left Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar in doubt for the third and final Test against India.

Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq told Reuters that Akhtar determined to overcome the injury in time for the deciding Test but was still suffering from a slight ankle problem.

Akhtar's loss would be a huge blow for Pakistan as it tries to win a series which has so far been dominated by the batsmen.

"I do feel sorry for Shoaib and the other bowlers because in my entire career I have not really seen Tests turning out this way and the batsmen dominating the way they have done so far in this series. Hopefully things will be different in the final test," Inzamam said.

"We are keen to get a result from this series because the last two series have been very well contested and it would be a pity if we didn't have a clear winner."

Umar Gul is on stand by for Akhtar but Inzamam is also battling an injury, with a back complaint forcing him off the field on the last three days of the second Test.

Pakistan has already lost all-rounder Shoaib Malik, who is mourning the death of his father.
