Amy Satterthwaite in action for the WHITE FERNS

Satterthwaite Thunders into form

Amy Sattherthwaite led her team, the Lancashire Thunder to victory in the Kia Super League.

The Thunder batted first at Hazlegrave and Sattherthwaite's hard hitting 52 from 32 balls helped her team to a formidable total of 164-8.  In reply the Loughborough Lightning looked to be dead and buried as they slumped to 67-6.  WHITE FERN Sophie Devine was out for two caught by Emma Lamb at mid-wicket off the bowling of England's Kate Cross.

An unlikely 8th wicket partnership of 69 between Thea Brooke's and Paige Scholfield took the lightening close to pulling off a fantastic chase. The were left needing 8 off the last over with two wickets left but Hayley Matthews took the final two wickets in the final over leaving the Lightning 6 runs short.

Speaking after the match Sattherthwaite said "Lightning fought back superbly and credit to them for that and in the end it was a relief to get over the line"

"It was a great wicket and nice to spend time in the middle. We set a good platform to allow us to put a score on the board"

"We talked about being positive in our batting and not panicking if there were a few dot balls. "

The Lightning are now one point ahead of the Thunder after two matches - both have played two, won one and lost one but the Lightning picked up a bonus point in their last match for chasing down the total inside 16 overs.

On Thursday, The Surrey Stars starring WHITE FERN Lea Tahuhu will take on the Yorkshire Diamonds at the Kia Oval at 6.30 BST.  Both sides are searching for their first win having lost their opening matches.
