Canterbury Cricket has today announced Dutch international Ryan ten Doeschate will join the Canterbury Wizards for the 2010/11 HRV Cup.
The 30 year old will join the Wizards following an outstanding English Domestic Twenty20 season. In this competition he averaged almost 60 with the bat at a strike rate of 177 with a high score of 102. He was also the most economical bowler for Essex in the competition.
It was also announced on September 6 that ten Doeschate will represent the Tasmanian Tigers in The Big Bash, the Australian domestic Twenty20 tournament.
Canterbury Cricket CEO Lee Germon was excited to have ten Doeschate join the Wizards ranks. ‘Ryan is a true all-rounder who has solidly performed and wowed crowds when he has taken the field for both his Netherlands and Essex sides. His solid batting and bowling will add to the depth of talent within the Wizards ranks. We are looking forward to him donning the red and black strip and continuing to perform at such a high standard.’

Ten Doeschante made his international Twenty20 debut during 2008 in a Twenty20 World Cup qualifying match against Kenya. In this match he scored a quick half century at a strike rate of 124.44 then went on to take three wickets in his four overs for just 27 runs. Since his debut he has represented his country in a further 9 Twenty20 Internationals and 64 for his county side Essex surpassing 1300 runs and taking 48 wickets.
