Neal Parlane and Grant Elliott claimed centuries as Wellington Firebirds claimed first innings points from State Championship leaders Auckland Aces at Eden Park Outer Oval.
Parlane made career-best 165 and Elliott 108 as the Firebirds declared on 524 for six, earning a lead of 327 after the duo added a record 249 for the third wicket.
Steve Gellatly marked his first-class debut with an unbeaten half-century, striking 69 in an 82-run stand with Duwayne Bowden, who made 59 from just 35 balls.
English Test bowler James Anderson and Gareth Hayne took two wickets each.
Anderson was once against outshone by compatriot Charlie Shreck, who took two more wickets in the match to leave Auckland on 16 for two when bad light stopped play.
Auckland remain 211 adrift of the their visitors with one day to play.
