The Rose Bowl was badly affected by rain with the first match at the Sydney Cricket Ground abandoned with the White Ferns well placed at 100 for 2 and the second match was completely washed out. The Rose Bowl was therefore decided on the third match with Australia reasserting their dominance to win by nine wickets.
After New Zealand were bundled out for 125 Leah Poulton and Alex Blackwell scored unbeaten half-centuries and added 104 for the second wicket as the Australians raced to victory.
This was the shortest match in terms of overs bowled between the two countries, the match lasting 55.5 overs as Australia raced to their target in just 16.4 overs. The previous fastest was 69.5 overs at the 1993 World Cup where it was New Zealand who raced to 78 without loss in 18.2 overs after Australia had limped to 77 in 51.3 overs.
Australia have now won 81 matches to the White Ferns 28 with two no results.
