South Africa have completed a 4-0 series victory over the BLACKCAPS after rain helped them comfortably wrap up the fifth match at Centurion this morning.
After the hosts won the toss and sent the New Zealanders in, was the dominant batsman, hitting the South African attack to all corners of the ground. His 66 came off just 76 deliveries and included eight boundaries and two sixes.
After his 75 run second wicket partnership with Nathan Astle (37), wickets began to fall regularly, preventing the New Zealanders from amassing a large total.
They were finally dismissed in the 50th over for 215.
Graeme Smith (66) showed his intentions early, punishing any loose deliveries and charging the seamers.
When hail hit the ground after 19 overs, it looked as though the match may be abandoned. But play did resume and the Duckwoth-Lewis system required South Africa to score just 140 off 30 overs, a target they achieved with almost two overs remaining and five wickets in hand.
Daniel Vettori was the pick of the BLACKCAPS bowlers, taking two for 18 off five overs.
The BLACKCAPS now return home to prepare for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.
