Rain washed out the scheduled first day of the India-Sri Lanka Test at Chennai yesterday.It also affected the match in Canberra between the Prime Minister's XI and the West Indies which finished without a result, after rain during the West Indies innings.
The Windies were 174-3 after 31.1 overs when rain forced the abandonment of the match, after the Prime Minister's XI set a target of 316.
Ramnaresh Sarwan (pictured) and Dwayne Bravo continued with the form they were each showing in the Test series against Australia, with Sarwan scoring 89 and Bravo unbeaten on 52.
The Windies were in trouble early at 25-2 before Sarwan and Bravo eked out a 114-run partnership to resurrect the West Indies' innings.
The Prime Minister's XI was in some trouble early too when losing New South Wales batsman Phil Jaques for 11, and Tasmanian Travis Birt soon after for 24.
Birt's dismissal brought fellow Tasmanian David Dawson to the crease, who was part of a 79-run partnership with West Australian Adam Voges.
When Dawson was dismissed for 41, the Windies seemed to have the match in control with the Prime Minister's XI on 136-3 after 27.1 overs.
But South Australian Callum Ferguson joined Voges (91) at the crease as the pair ripped up the Windies attack, sharing in a 132-run partnership and putting the Prime Minister's XI in a strong position.
Tino Best returned the best figures of the West Indies' bowlers with 2-49 off his 10 overs.
