Proteas duo join Fleming in Centurion club

Centurion is an apt venue for the BLACKCAPS’ first Test of their three Test series against South Africa.

Stephen Fleming becomes the first New Zealander to reach 100 Tests, but two Proteas are likely to join him in three figures over Easter.

South African stalwarts Shaun Pollock and Jacques Kallis reach the landmark against the BLACKCAPS.

Kallis is also seeking 160 runs and four more wickets to take another milestone and equal Sir Garfield Sobers’ record of 8000 runs and 200 wickets.

“When you play in your first Test, you never really think about playing in a hundred," Kallis told reporters.

"But it is an honour and a privilege, and it will be something to remember in the future. But I won't be expecting any favours from the opposition because it's my hundredth Test."

Pollock’s test 100, meanwhile, comes at the same ground he made his debut.

"It certainly is a very proud moment. I've really enjoyed my Test experiences," he said. "I've played in an awesome side, and every time we've gone out, we've believed we had the ability to beat any team.

“I've played with some fine cricketers in the South African team, and I've played against some fine cricketers. I've been really fortunate that I haven't had too many injuries, and I've made a lot of friends."
