PICK THE KIT WINNER - TEAL FERN

ROUND 1 WINNER - GREY HOOP

ROUND 2 WINNER - TEAL FERN

All You Need To Know

Aussie fans have chosen their team’s favourite retro kit for next summer – now New Zealand fans have the chance to do the same.

From Friday March 8, fans have the chance to select, and vote for, their favourite BLACKCAPS uniform from yesteryear, the winning kit from which will be worn during home and away trans-Tasman battles next summer.

Four “finalists” have been chosen by NZC – the Beige of the 1980s, the Horizontal Hoop ensemble of 1990; the Black Shouldered number from 1993-94, and the Teal of the late-nineties.

All four are expected to resonate strongly with Kiwi fans: the Beige conjures up memories of the Underarm and folk heroes such as Lance Cairns; the Hoops were worn in the lead-up to the 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup; the Black Shoulders immediately afterwards, and the Teal by many of players who went on to play in the 1999 tournament.

In the manner of World Cups, the contest will take on a play-offs format, with the Beige up against Hoops in the first semi-final, and the Teal taking on the Black in the second.

Fans can vote on the first semi-final today, tomorrow and on Sunday by going to NZC’s website and clicking on the link at the top of the homepage.

The second semi-final between the Teal and the Black will be contested on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, with the grand-final to be played out over Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday.

Australian fans have already, and overwhelmingly, voted for their men’s side to wear the 1999 World Cup “Shooting Stars” kit against the BLACKCAPS in next summer’s ODI and T20 series, respectively – the former to be played across the ditch; the latter in New Zealand.
