Our lucky winner, Philip from Kaukapakapa, came into to see us today to pick up his prize of 4 semi-final tickets at Eden Park, 2 nights’ accommodation and a merchandise pack!
Philip won this awesome prize by signing up to MyBLACKCAPS and completing his profile. He is a huge fan of the BLACKCAPS and is also a coach, team manager and scorer. His son William is also a keen cricket player.
We asked Philip a few questions:
Looking at your MyBLACKCAPS profile, you’re obviously well into your cricket - so you must be really excited to be our lucky winner!
Yeah definitely, a good surprise – really made my day!
So who have you decided to take along with you?
I’m taking my wife, my son and a good friend of mine along. We’re all really excited.
Have you been to any of the other matches this year?
Just the South Africa vs Pakistan game at Eden Park – it was a good game and I had a ball (except for the rain!). Took my wife and son along too and we had a lot of fun.
What’s been your favourite world cup moment so far?
Obviously the game I went to was good, but the game that New Zealand just won where we went down to the wire in the last over, against Australia, that was probably the best moment. It really evened out the two teams you know, it wasn’t just like they were out. It was really exciting and you really had to watch it until the end. Would be good to meet them again in the final.
How do you think the BLACKCAPS are going?
I think they’re doing really well. I think they’re a good all-round team. The good thing I guess is although Kane Williamson and McCullum went out last week, it showed that we could bat all the way through; because the lower order and middle order stood up. Whereas throughout the tournament we’ve been called a two-man team with those boys, it’s good to see that even when they went out for a one and an eight, the rest of the team still stood up and got the totals. So I think that would have made people sit up and see that we can bat.

I just like the fact that I get the videos straight to my inbox. Sometimes even when you’re live at the game, you miss things. And I don’t get to see a lot of the games anyway because of my job, so it’s good to catch back up and see what actually happened in the game that you missed. So yeah it’s really handy, it’s a good site!
