Jeetan Patel played hero for the second match in a row for his English County Cricket side Warwickshire.
In his first game for Warwickshire Patel helped his side to snatch an unlikely two wicket victory against Somerset. Surprisingly it wasn’t his bowling which got his team over the mark, but a spectacular 43 not out off 36 balls. Warwickshire had looked as if it was going to fall short of their target, but Patel came in and smashed three sixes and four fours to secure the points.
His second match against Lancashire saw another eye-catching performance.
Patel picked up a five-wicket bag for his side in Lancashire’s second innings, to help dismiss the opposition for just 148. It left Warwickshire with just 70 required to win and they did so with five wickets in hand. It marks a great start to the competition for them with two wins from two matches.
Martin Guptill also featured for his side Derbyshire as they drew with Leicestershire. Having been dismissed for 16 in the first innings, Guptill made a fast-paced 67 not out in Derbyshire’s second innings to make sure that the match ended in a draw and the two sides shared the points.
Kane Williamson is also over in England and will play his first game of the season for Gloucestershire against Bristol.
