Nicola Browne has been named captain of the Northern Spirit team for 2014-15 season.
Browne is New Zealand and Northern Districts’ most capped cricketer and was an obvious choice for new coach Mark Coles.
“I am looking forward to working with Nicola. Her knowledge and experience is second to none and she has great respect from the group and more importantly the younger players who are coming through” Coles said.
Browne was thrilled to be named captain and was excited about the challenge ahead and playing an exciting brand of cricket. “We have some new support personnel this year and the group got together last weekend and we all feel energised and excited about the season ahead.”
CEO Peter Roach said "we are really excited about Nicola taking the reins this season. It is a new era for the Spirit and we are sure that she and new coach Mark Coles will combine well to bring out the very best in all of our players."
