Middle-order batsman Colin Munro believes the BLACKCAPS have the depth and the talent to give his side a two-one series win in the third and final Twenty20 International against South Africa at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth.
Martin Guptill was the primary weapon in the second Twenty20 in East London, which New Zealand won by eight wickets, with the opener lashing 101 off 69 deliveries including a boundary off the last ball to seal victory.
This time however, Munro highlights the fact that the talented new players have match winning potential.
“They (South Africa) have seen the way we play and probably think we rely on a couple of players but we haven’t seen the best of Jimmy Neesham or Corey Anderson yet with the bat,” said Munro. “If they get the chance they can hit the ball a very long way.
“The South African’s haven’t seen that yet so think they could play a big role."
While the BLACKCAPS were disappointed with the way they performed in the first Twenty20 but the team remained calm and focussed. They will take the same approach into the series decider.
“It’s more of the same,” said Munro. “We’ve had the same message from game one.
“Obviously game one didn’t go to plan but you don’t want to change too much so we had the same message.
“Brendon came out, obviously being a positive guy, and says just go out and be positive, play your natural game and I think the boys did that.
“If we can get a win and go two-one up in the series and win the series, will be absolutely amazing for the whole group.”
The message was reinforced by fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan.
“We didn’t get despondent after that first loss,” said McClenaghan. “We really stuck together and worked hard.
“We know it’s going to be come and it came through the other night.”
