Wellington v Otago
Otago earned four first innings points from their draw with Wellington to move to the top of the National Under-17 Tournament points table.
Otago batted through to tea before both captains decided to call an end, Otago’s second innings surviving two first-over wickets to move to 48 without further loss.
Wellington had been dismissed for 202, 20 runs short of the southerners’ total. Joe Austin-Smellie top scored for the capital province with 85.
Canterbury v Northern Districts
ND earned their first points of competition after removing Canterbury for 137, 40 runs short of Northern’s total. ND batted again and progressed through to 198/5 when stumps where drawn 20 minutes after the tea break. ND’s Hickey enjoyed a fine double with six for 46 before scoring 36.
Central Districts v Auckland
Central Districts claimed first innings points from holders Auckland after removing them for 314, 37 short of their own declared total.
Auckland continued the fight but could not make the required runs quick enough, their last wicket falling with the final scheduled delivery of the day.
