The amount of players shows the depth of junior cricket in the Waikato region and development officer – primary Chris Ferguson said it is a very positive thing. “The sight of so many children having fun playing cricket is a great advertisement for junior cricket and for the valuable role that MILO as well as the role that grassroots coaches play in developing young cricketers and in sustaining the game”,” he said. “It provides the players and their coaches with the chance to attend an international match, to enjoy the occasion and the atmosphere, and to have fun demonstrating their cricket skills to the general match audience”.
Once the players have participated in the MILO game they will get to relax and watch the second innings of the exciting game.
A range of schools and junior cricket clubs will also be participating on the ground in the fifth and final ODI between the two trans-Tasman rivals at the Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
