McCullum to play 200th ODI

Brendon McCullum is set to join the illustrious 200 club when he walks onto McLean Park in Napier for the second One Day International of The National Bank Series later today.

McCullum will join an elite band of just six New Zealanders to reach the milestone after Stephen Fleming, Daniel Vettori, Chris Harris, Nathan Astle and Chris Cairns.

The wicket-keeper batsman was earmarked for big things at a young age, with his first ODI played against Australia in 2002, aged just 21.  Since making his international debut he has been a regular in the team accumulating 4379 runs and effecting a New Zealand record 230 dismissals.

New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive David White said: “NZC congratulates Brendon on this remarkable and deserved milestone.

“Brendon is unquestionably one of our countries best ODI players and provided a great deal of pleasure to BLACKCAPS fans in his career so far.

“I know that the whole country will want to join me in recognising and celebrating this worthy achievement by this wonderful cricketer and we all look forward to him continuing to represent his country with great distinction in the future.”
