Brendon McCullum has continued his string of strong performances in the Indian Premier League, providing the platform for his Kolkata Knight Riders as they beat the Delhi Daredevils.
The win secures a place in the IPL final, where the winner will receive an incredible (US) $2,000,000.
Kolkata’s 18 run win came on the back of a solid batting performance, once again lead by opening pair McCullum and Gautam Gambhir. McCullum’s 31 saw his sixth score over 30 in his last eight matches.
From there the Knight Riders pushed on through Yusuf Pathan, whacking an unbeaten 40 off 21 balls. At the end of 20 overs Kolkata had posted 162 for four on a difficult wicket.
McCullum continued to contribute in the next innings as well, stumping two of the Daredevils top six batsmen, including the top-scoring Mahela Jayawardene.
Even BLACKCAP Ross Taylor couldn’t save his Delhi side from defeat, making 11 towards the end of the innings, once the result was more or less confirmed.
The Daredevils will now face the winner of the Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians match to determine who will face Kolkata in the final on May 27th.
