Let the games begin!

The ICC World T20 is about to start proper for the WHITE FERNS with the team playing their final warm-up match against the West Indies at Providence Stadium, Georgetown on November 8 (NZT).

Then it’s time for the big dance, with the team opening their tournament against India on November 10 at the same venue.

WHITE FERNS captain Amy Satterthwaite couldn’t be more ready to lead her side into battle.

“There’s a great feeling around the group, there’s certainly a buzz of excitement as we get closer to the tournament proper,” Satterthwaite says.

All-rounder Sophie Devine was a late arrival into camp, attending her sister’s wedding before making the 43-hour journey to join her team mates.

“I think I had a bit of FOMO (fear of missing out) – missing out. I saw on social media the girls getting stuck into training and warm-up games. It’s nice to come back and join the group, it’s a bit like family and it’s nice to link up again and the group seem in a really good space.”

Ever the entertainer, Devine will play a key role with both bat and ball as the WHITE FERNS search for their first world title in 18 years.

“It’s fantastic to be over here in the West Indies, they love a party, so really looking forward to being part of that atmosphere and anytime you get to represent your country is really special so looking forward to getting out there and doing the country proud,” Devine said.

The WHITE FERNS open their ICC WORLD T20 tournament against India on November 10th at 4am NZT.
