Kyle Mills returns to NZ following abductor injury

New Zealand Cricket today confirmed pace bowler Kyle Mills will return to New Zealand following an injury to his abductor muscle.

BLACKCAPS Team Manager Mike Sandle said: “Kyle developed some discomfort during the first one-dayer in Harare.

“Initially it was thought to be a strain but a scan has shown a slight tear to his abductor muscle.

“Kyle will undergo further assessment by the New Zealand Cricket medical team once he returns home.

“The decision has been made not to bring over a replacement player with sufficient cover in the current squad.

“Clearly it is disappointing for Kyle who was looking forward to making a return to the Test team.  We wish him a speedy recovery and are hopeful he will be available for selection for the upcoming Test series against Australia”

Tests squad (as announced 23 September 2011):

Ross Taylor (c) – Central Stags
Graeme Aldridge – Northern Knights
Doug Bracewell – Central Stags
Dean Brownlie – Canterbury Wizards
Martin Guptill – Auckland Aces
Jesse Ryder – Wellington Firebirds
Chris Martin – Auckland Aces
Brendon McCullum – Otago Volts
Andy McKay – Wellington Firebirds
Jeetan Patel – Wellington Firebirds
Daniel Vettori - Northern Knights
Kane Williamson - Northern Knights
BJ Watling - Northern Knights
Reece Young – Canterbury Wizards

NOTE: Graeme Aldridge was named a replacement for Tim Southee on 14 October.  Kyle Mills has been removed from the list.
